The Kelty Mantra 7 - A big family tent

This is a big 7 person family camping tent with dimensions of 152" x 124" x 72" encompassing 116.1 square feet and weighing in at a packed weight of a little over 23 pounds.  The stuff sack itself is 13" x 33".   Included is a 38.6 square foot vestibule area for convenient gear storage.  The Mantra 7's three-pole design provides strength for this comfortable living space and this 3 season tent will hold its own against the elements from early spring to late fall.
 
This is another of Kelty's DA17 Aluminum pole series.  The prebent poles are made of a proprietary aluminum alloy designed by DAC specifically for tents. By using this alloy, Kelty gets a large diameter pole with more stiffness, strength and durability at a cost slightly above the inexpensive fiberglass poles.  This makes for a tent that is less expensive than the Featherlite or Pressfit pole models, but still has the durability of the lightweights with the added benefits of aluminum over fiberglass.  In addition, the high-quality Vaulted PolePilot sleeves are extremely rigid for maximum support and provide exceptional airflow between the tent and fly.

These tents also include easy to enter single large D-style doors with no-see-um mesh panels for ventilation.  The polyester reinforced rainfly prevents sagging when wet unlike standard nylon rainflies.  A standard nylon rainfly expands soaking water into it like a sponge and quite possibly causing leaking into the tent.  The UV resistant 1800 mm Polyester in the Mantra 7 rainfly is not effected by water making it a much better choice of material for this important component.  Another Kelty innovation is their ArcEdge floor design which keeps the tents seams off the ground maintaining a watertight tub.  The 1.9 oz nylon taffeta walls are constructed with weatherproof durable taped seams.   

The Mantra 7 has color coded clip components making setup simple and fast.  There is a vent over the door and lots of mesh to prevent overheating.  The interior pockets and organizer wall are well thought-out and easy to use.
