The Camping Shower - What a comfort!
Nothing feels better after a long day hiking or backpacking than a hot shower. You may be a long way from civilization, but there's no reason why you can't have the comfort of a civilized shower at your campsite.
There are many different types of camp showers available. Some are nothing more than a black plastic bag and a tube that rely on the heat of the sun to warm the camping shower's water and gravity to deliver it. But what if you make camp too late in the day for solar heat to be effective? There are alternatives.
The Zodi company offers a lightweight, compact and affordably priced camp shower that uses heat from your campfire or camping stove to warm the water. This innovative solution is designed to heat water to 105˚F in about 20 minutes. The Super Shower system is a complete unit comprised of a copper heating coil, hoses, and an on-off shower head which are then attached to a tough nylon 3 gallon water bag. Gravity still provides the delivery of the warm water to your make-shift shower stall. It is very compact and weighs under 3 lbs. Of course you'll have to camp near a source of water or you'll have to pack 20 lbs + of water with you. But unless you're a die-hard, or a 'polar bear' type, it beats a frigid dip in a cold lake or stream to wash the trail off.
Not only can you use this hiking, backpacking or camping, but it can double as an emergency back-up for home too.
The Zodi Super Shower is available from Nitro-Pak
