Most backpacks are not designed for the specific needs of women.  JanSport backpacking equipment is different.  At JanSport they specialize in manufacturing a backpack that fits a woman's body.

The JanSport women's series of backpacks are ergonomically designed with shorter shoulder straps that curve with the female torso.  They have a more open neck area, a shorter length and a narrower frame. The hipbelts are made to be worn above the hipbone and are angled to accurately fit the curvature of a women's waist.   JanSport has even designed frames for shorter women so that the backpack isn't uncomfortably top heavy or extends above the head.
